Hotel Review: KK Sapa Hotel (Valley View Suite with King Bed)

KK Sapa Hotel
KK Sapa Hotel

When we first decided on a visit to Sapa, we had our eyes on Hotel de la Coupole - MGallery, arguably the most famous hotel in Sapa. As we were only going to arrive in Sapa at night, we did not want to book an additional night at this hotel since we figured it was pretty pricey. We checked Agoda and found that KK Sapa fits perfectly. It was affordable and had a great view of the mountains. A quick check showed they were still available in one of their suites facing the valley. We knew we had to book a night’s stay at this lovely hotel.

TL:DR

  • Great service

  • Really value-for-money hotel stay that comes with breakfast

  • Beautiful views of Sapa

Service:

Service was excellent throughout our short stay at KK Sapa Hotel. When we first arrived at night, we were warmly greeted with welcome drinks while the front desk processed our check-in. It was done efficiently, and we were soon on our way to our suite.

When we wanted to visit the town after checking in, hotel staff were also helpful in guiding us to the electronic taxis that were by the hotel awaiting passengers. Staff members always had a smile on their faces and were eager to help guests.

Breakfast the next day was fuss-free. While the hotel was quite busy, the servers quickly cleared the tables as soon as guests had finished their breakfast so that more guests could enjoy their meal. We were blessed to be able to grab a seat by the windows facing the valley. Enjoying a restful breakfast while looking outside at the mountains was quite an experience.

It was also done efficiently during check-out, and there were no issues. As it was a short 1-night stay, we only interacted a little with the hotel staff. However, the general sense we got from them was that they were friendly and helpful, always willing to assist guests with their requests and needs.

Hotel Facilities:

KK Sapa Hotel has an indoor pool, which makes sense considering the chilly weather in Sapa. Located on the hotel's upper floors, it provides a humid and tropical feeling that is more than welcome once guests had enough of the cold Sapa weather. Guests appreciate the warmth that the swimming pool brought them.

There is also a gym beside the swimming pool that comes with the standard equipment. While we could not take any pictures as some were working out then, it looked like a decent gym that should allow most guests to have a good workout.

KK Sapa Hotel also has a cafe on the top floor, where their second entrance is. Ban Ho Bar is where guests head if they wish to unwind and catch the fantastic views of Sapa. Order a drink from the bar, choose from indoor and outdoor seating, and relax. It is a great way to start your vacation.

KK Sapa has an in-house spa for relaxation. Guests can enjoy massages or manicures in the comfort of the hotel. As we were in the hotel for a short time, we did not get a massage there. However, we enjoyed the views of Muong Hoa Valley offered by Ban Ho Bar.

Breakfast:

Breakfast is served at the hotel’s main restaurant on the second floor. It is a continental breakfast that most travellers should be familiar with. There are many fresh salad options, pastries, cold cuts and cheese.

KK Sapa Hotel does it well for those who enjoy a piping hot bowl of soup. They serve cooked-to-order pho, which should delight most international travellers. Egg lovers can also enjoy freshly cooked eggs of their choice. For desserts, guests can enjoy some sweet pastries, fresh fruits, yoghurt, or a local sweet soup.

Some guests who would like to relax at their table after having a whole meal can grab a cup of freshly brewed coffee or tea. As is the case in Vietnamese hotels, fresh sliced lime and ginger are available so that travellers can get a kick out of their tea. It is one of the best ways to finish a meal.

Overall, it was a decent breakfast. We were filled with various food and enjoyed our views of Sapa. Even though the restaurant was crowded, the staff ensured that the buffet spread was kept full so guests could enjoy the full spread that KK Sapa Hotel offers.

Room:

We booked the Valley View Suite with a King Bed for our 1-night stay. We figured that this was going to be the trip of the year. Hence, we should enjoy ourselves to the fullest during this trip. The room did not disappoint. Located on the hotel's higher floors, it faces the valley, and one can look out at the mountains from the suite’s balconies.

When entering the suite, you are greeted by a large living room with a sofa and coffee table. When we entered the suite, fresh fruits and pastries were waiting for us on the coffee table. The sofa was very comfortable, and we would surely laze on it the whole day if not for our need to explore Sapa properly.

The suite’s caffeine options come from coffee sachets from local brand G7. I can confidently say that it is a great brand whose coffee I enjoy daily. Teabags are also available for those who prefer tea over coffee. The room also provides a minibar with chilled beverages while snacks are available if guests cannot overcome their hunger pangs in the middle of the night.

One unique thing about KK Sapa Hotel is the choice of room slippers. While many hotels opt for disposable slippers, KK Sapa chose the sustainable route. Proper Abercrombie & Fitch slippers are provided for guests to use during their stay at the hotel. While this means that guests cannot bring them home, they get to enjoy wearing a great pair of slippers around the hotel. They are perfect when heading to the hotel’s garden or swimming pool, which can get quite slippery.

The bedroom has no separate door, but there should not be an issue since this is a two-person suite. A huge king-sized bed is in the middle of the bedroom, and there is another television for couples to enjoy while lazing on the bed. There is also a workstation beside the bedroom’s television so guests who need to complete some urgent work can do so while their partner watches some television. There are bathrobes in the wardrobe, so guests can use them when they want to swim in the hotel’s swimming pool. A safe is also in the wardrobe, so you can put your valuables there while travelling around Sapa.

The suite’s flooring is made of parquet, which I thought gave the whole room a homely feeling. I quite liked the suite, especially when a few paintings showcasing the local culture were in the room.

The bathroom has both a bathtub and a standing shower, so couples can technically clean themselves concurrently to save some time. KK Sapa Hotel provides toiletries in ceramic bottles. We enjoyed the shampoo and shower gel, as they both had lovely fragrances. Toothbrush kits are also provided, so there is no need to head to a convenience mart to hunt for them.

Overall, the Valley View Suite was a lovely suite that we enjoyed. It is reasonably priced, and we can see that travellers will take advantage of KK Sapa Hotel’s great pricing. The hotel is ideally situated with a great view of the mountains and Muong Hoa Valley, so guests whose rooms face this view will be treated.

We recommend this hotel for travellers who would love to book a trip to Sapa but wish to find affordable options.
