We are frequent travellers to Ho Chi Minh City and have always wanted to stay at Hotel des Arts Saigon. However, for some reason, we always ended up staying at other hotels. This time, we were there for a two-night trip, and we decided to make sure we finally stayed at this hotel, which we had seen so many positive reviews about on social media.

We decided to use the complimentary night courtesy of Accor Plus for our stay. At the time of our booking, we discovered that Accor’s Red Hot Rooms had a promotion for the dates we were looking to book. Thankfully, we could snag our room at the Red Hot Room rate! All in all, we could book two nights at this amazing hotel for a fraction of what it would usually cost!

TL:DR

  • Great service

  • Lovely rooftop bar and swimming pool with great views

  • One of the best breakfast buffets in Ho Chi Minh City

  • Convenient location in the city centre

Service:

Service was fantastic in this hotel. We checked in during the evening, and the hotel staff quickly served us. Two welcome drinks were soon brought to us, which tasted delicious. We later discovered that the welcome drink is made from kumquat, a sweet fruit similar to oranges, and can be found in Southeast Asia. Each time we were in the lobby and headed out, the staff was always on the lookout and ensured we were brought to our vehicle. Otherwise, the staff was always on hand to welcome us back to the hotel when we arrived.

Breakfast service was also top-notch. The staff was very proactive, made multiple trips to our table to offer different drinks, and came to make sure we were kept from wanting. The food options were also outstanding, but we will mention more below. The room was beautiful, and we later found out we had been upgraded to a Deluxe Corner Room even though we had booked an entry-level Deluxe Room.

During our visit to the rooftop bar to claim our complimentary drinks courtesy of Accor, the staff members were very friendly, even though we did not buy any additional food or beverages. We enjoyed excellent service throughout our stay at this hotel.

Hotel Facilities:

Hotel des Arts Saigon  - MGallery Collection has a rooftop infinity swimming pool that basically offers a 270-degree view of the city. When we headed up to the swimming pool, the weather was unfortunately windy, and a thunderstorm was potentially coming. As a result, no one was swimming at that point. However, we could see how beautiful the city was, and it was amazing to see the strong winds wreak havoc on the swimming pool. On a clear day, we can see how cool and fantastic swimming in this infinity pool will be.

There is a poolside bar for those who prefer to drink. You can soak in the pool and grab a drink by the bar. Alternatively, the rooftop bar is just a short walk away. The rooftop bar offers fantastic city views, and you will enjoy your time there. While enjoying the complimentary drinks, you can see Bitexco Financial Tower and Landmark 81, both beautiful Ho Chi Minh City skyscrapers.

One cool aspect of the rooftop is the glass-floored bridge connecting the hotel to Centec Tower. Built in 2015, it offers guests who might need easy access to the neighbouring tower. Open only when the weather permits; brave guests who are not afraid of heights can venture over the bridge and take some photos as evidence of your bravery!

Breakfast:

The breakfast buffet at Hotel des Arts Saigon - MGallery Collection is held in its main restaurant, Saigon Kitchen Restaurant. It is no exaggeration to state that breakfast here is one of the key highlights of staying at this lovely hotel.

The breakfast buffet is spread across multiple counters, and the restaurant is spacious, so guests will not feel claustrophobic. Many large-sized windows allow lots of natural light while the restaurant can still create a warm and cosy atmosphere.

Among the standard international breakfast options include assorted pastries, an egg station, salads, cheese, cold cuts, smoked fish, and American breakfast options. For the more health-conscious, there are fresh fruits, juices, and smoothies. Bircher muesli and different types of yoghurt are stored in a fridge for guests to take easily.

For Asian food lovers, there are options like dim sum, congee, crab soup, stir-fried seafood and mushrooms. They also have a live station serving local food. During our stay there, they served Banh Hoi, a rice vermicelli dish that usually comes with pork, a dish that originated in Southern Vietnam. Of course, pho is also served, so tourists will surely get their cravings sorted here.

For sweet treats, there are doughnuts, pancakes, and French toast. Bread pudding, something that I love, is also served. I am happy to admit that I took multiple servings of the scrumptious dessert. There is a coffee bar that showcases the different types of coffee that are served at the restaurant. However, guests do not need to wait at the counter to make an order. Order one when the staff members are making their rounds around the tables, and they will bring it to you once it is ready.

Each table has a loose-leaf tea menu that should please tea lovers. Besides the Hotel des Arts House Blend tea, they also serve the world-famous lotus tea and an Oolong Epicurean tea whose leaves are freshly plucked in Vietnam. Coffee lovers should not fret. Besides the usual Western coffee options, there is another menu on each table. Those wanting to try authentic Vietnamese coffee can check out the different types available. Choose from black coffee, condensed milk coffee, salted coffee, and honey coffee. Regardless of your choice, be warned that Vietnamese coffee is very strong!

As mentioned earlier about Hotel des Arts Saigon - MGallery Collection’s fantastic service, the Saigon Kitchen Restaurant staff are entirely on another level. While we were having breakfast, a staff member approached our table and asked if everything was all right. He then asked if he could bring us an iced beverage, a unique drink the staff created. Of course, we had to try it. Needless to say, it was delicious, and it tasted refreshing. We were looking around and saw that fresh coconuts were served. We quickly asked if we could have it, and soon, they arrived at our table. As we were finishing our breakfast, a staff member came up to our table again and asked if we wanted to have a drink before heading off. I could not resist trying the Vietnamese coffee and ordered one as the final drink. As a result, I had the privilege of trying three different types of drinks towards the tail end of our breakfast. Overall, the breakfast was excellent. However, the fantastic service by its staff members made breakfast a memorable one that we will always cherish.

Room:

Hotel des Arts Saigon MGallery Collection’s Deluxe Corner rooms are spacious, measuring 30 square metres. Situated at the corner of the hotel, they have one more set of windows, making the room look much brighter and more spacious. We love this, as we enjoy bright spaces.

Hotel des Arts Saigon (Deluxe Corner Room) - The bedroom

When you first enter the room, you will see the open-concept restroom on one side while the wardrobe is on the other side. You walk a little further in, and you will see a cabinet with all the food and beverage essentials. Coffee and tea come in the form of Nespresso capsules, instant coffee sachets, and Dilmah teabags. For two guests in the room, there are more than enough caffeine options. Complimentary water is provided in the form of reusable glass bottles. For those who prefer lounging in the room the whole day, there are chargeable snacks and beverages for your enjoyment. During our stay, the hotel kindly provided us with a complimentary plate of snacks and fresh fruits. It was deeply appreciated.

While the bathroom's washing area is open-concept, the shower and toilet are thankfully enclosed separately. This design makes the room feel bigger than it really is, and we quite like it. Standard toiletries are provided, while Appelles provide the washing essentials.

The King-sized bed is extremely comfortable and sits in the middle of the room. The television is smartly placed from the ceiling, so there is a lot more space to walk about. This is quite intelligent as the room is not the largest, and fitting a television cabinet will make the room a lot more cluttered. Instead, the hotel can now fit a proper workstation in the corner of the room so that guests can do some work properly. There is also plenty of natural light to shine in while working. There is a universal wall plug, so guests do not need to worry that their laptop charger does not fit the hotel’s plugs.

For those who need to rest, a comfortable armchair in the corner of the room is perfect for gazing out the window and watching television. You can also spy on your partner while he or she is working hard at the workstation.

The windows offer a nice view of the city, especially from the corner, where you can see more sides. Of course, if you can, try to get a room on the higher floors, and your views will be better. We were simply thankful to be upgraded to this beautiful room. We could not ask for more!

Views from the room:

Hotel des Arts Saigon - MGallery Collection is located at a unique point in Ho Chi Minh City. It is close to the city centre and, as a result, acts as a vantage point for many of the city’s skyscrapers. From the rooftop and our room, we could see some of the city's more popular hotels and shopping malls. We spotted Pullman Saigon Centre, Novotel Saigon Centre, InterContinental Saigon, Bitexco Financial Tower, and Landmark 81. We enjoyed snapping many photos of these beautiful structures. We hope you will enjoy these pictures!

Overall, we had a great stay at Hotel des Arts Saigon—MGallery Collection. The rooms were beautiful, the service was top-notch, and the facilities were terrific. The hotel's location is another advantage that guests will love. Quite easily, this is one of our favourite hotels in Ho Chi Minh City. For travellers considering accommodation options in Saigon, Hotel des Arts Saigon—MGallery Collection should be at the top of your list!
