As part of the perks of having an AMEX Krisflyer Ascend credit card, holders get a complimentary one-night stay at participating Hilton hotels in Asia Pacific. The list of participating hotels changes every year, and holders would be wise to book a night at one of the nicer hotels. Popular hotels are expectedly hard to book while more affordable hotels are easier to find complimentary nights. As frequent travellers to Ho Chi Minh City, we were stoked that there were plenty of slots in the newly-opened Hilton Saigon. It is a new hotel that only officially opened earlier this year. As we needed to head to Saigon for yet another trip, this was a great time to redeem our complimentary night!

TL:DR

  • Beautiful facilities

  • Beautiful, spacious, new, and modern-looking room

  • Central location in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City

Service:

When we first checked in at the counter, the staff was quick to process our booking. However, she did not take the time to explain anything about the hotel’s amenities and restaurants. Instead, we got the impression we were only there to use the complimentary night and would not spend anything in the hotel. Hence, we did not receive any information about the swimming pool, gym, spa, or even the dining options. Once she had finished processing our booking, we were provided with our room key, and we were off to our room.

The service was always polite, and the first-floor staff were always happy to assist guests. When we boarded the Grab for the airport, the staff was also quick to help us load our luggage into the boot. We do not have any complaints about the service standards at Hilton Saigon.

Hotel Facilities:

Hilton Saigon has a beautiful outdoor swimming pool on the 11th floor. Facing the river, it has a gorgeous view of the city as well. It gets lots of sunlight during the day, and we can see how it will be a favourite for suntanning lovers. The gym and spa are located on the same floor and at least one person was working out during the morning we were there to take some photos.

Towards the end of the swimming pool is a steam room. For those who prefer artificial heat in a small enclosed room, you should be pleased. For those who prefer breathing in fresh air while in the shade, there is lots of space for you to do that. Hilton Saigon can accommodate all types of travellers!

Room:

Hilton Saigon’s King Guest rooms measure an impressive 39 square metres. For the basic entry-level room, the real estate is very spacious. You can immediately see how large the room is when you first walk in.

On the side is a walk-in wardrobe that also leads to the bathroom. The walk-in wardrobe is large and can fit your luggage. The room’s safe and plenty of hangers are available for use.

The bathroom looks very beautiful and new. We love the theme of the bathroom and how there is a large glass between the bathroom and the room. While you are washing up, you can see the room as well. Besides romantic reasons, I think the glass window also helps make the room feel larger. They have definitely succeeded. Thankfully, the window can also be blurred by a click of a switch. You can then have all the privacy you want in the bathroom. Toiletries are provided by Crabtree & Evelyn, and we love the smell of the shampoo and shower gel. Unfortunately, the toilet does not have a bidet, so do the necessary. Besides the standing shower, there is a bathtub for guests to enjoy. In fact, you can even watch some television while soaking in the bathtub. Just make sure you close the curtains!

Caffeine options include Nespresso capsules and Dilmah teabags. Complimentary bottled water is also available. For those who need to work, there is a comfortable lounge area. In the corner, there is a wall socket and USB-A socket for charging electronic devices. With a nice, comfortable table and the television in front of you, this is a perfect place to do some work.

The King-sized bed is extremely comfortable and the perfect place to relax and rest. One side of the bed has a wall socket and a USB-A socket. The lighting options are also on this side of the bed, so you can sleep on this side if you use your phone often or need to head to the bathroom in the middle of the night.

With the basic entry-level King Guest room, there is not much of a view. However, if you strain your neck a little, you can catch the towering Bitexco Financial Tower and Saigon River. Having said that, however, the views should not be your top priority if you book a stay in this room. We have no complaints!

Views from the hotel:

As Hilton Saigon is located in the middle of the city, it offers some of the best views of Ho Chi Minh City. We were able to capture a few photos of the surrounding areas. From our hotel room to the open-air area on the 9th floor, we grabbed the opportunity to take various photos. We hope you enjoy the pictures that we took!

As this is still a very new hotel, everything in the room looks and feels very clean and beautiful. We love the room's new modern design, especially its spaciousness. Hilton Saigon is hard to beat with its central location in the city’s tourist district. The next time we are here, we will be sure to try out their dining options as well!
