When we were scouting hotels in Nha Trang, there were plenty of accommodation options to choose from. December Hotel stood out as one of the hotels in which to stay. It looked beautiful, and pictures from its Instagram page promise a lot. Its Instagram page also shows that it has won many awards, from Agoda to Expedia. A check on Agoda showed that the cost was very reasonably priced. And so, we booked a 4-night stay at the December Hotel!

Service:
Service was excellent throughout our stay at the December Hotel. From the time we checked in late at night to the time we checked out early in the morning, everything was great. The lobby cafe is a great place to people-watch while sipping coffee, and the staff there was excellent. They were very friendly and provided top-notch customer service. We enjoyed our time at the cafe the most.
Hotel Facilities:
December Hotel has a beautiful rooftop swimming pool that overlooks the city. For those serious about taking Instagram pictures, the swimming pool is the place to be. It is also a great place to admire the city from above, where you can see the mountains in the background, including what looks like an abandoned airport near the city.
If you feel peckish after a swim, before a swim, or simply trying to find an excuse to eat something, there is a bar at the swimming pool. There is quite an extensive range of food options, and you can choose from pizzas to meat skewers and desserts to pasta. Many beverage options should please most people. This might also be a great place to be in the evenings, as you can catch the city slowly turning to night.
A spacious gym is located just below the swimming pool. It has all the essentials for a good workout, and the equipment looks well-maintained. It would be a good place to burn off some calories after enjoying a nice seafood dinner in the city.
On the second storey is a family room, where families with young children can spend time letting the kids burn off some energy. A large table just outside is perfect for impromptu business meetings.
Breakfast:
Breakfast at December Hotel is served at the hotel’s main restaurant. It is a large place that spans the width of the hotel. You can walk to the other end to catch a different sight of the city.
The December Hotel offers a decent range of breakfast options, which should satisfy guests. A few local food options are also available, including the world-famous banh mi. The hotel has also helpfully cut the banh mi into smaller pieces so guests can try more food.
A live noodle station serves Mì Quảng, a Vietnamese noodle dish. A noodle dish that originates from Central Vietnam, it is usually served with rice noodles and has either pork or shrimp. As with the standard in Vietnam, plenty of vegetables are added into the bowl of goodness. It is a dish to try!
For Western guests and those used to Western breakfasts, different types of pastries are served. In addition to cheese, bread, fresh fruits, salads, yoghurts, sausages, and bacon, there are two kinds of egg options (fried egg or omelette).
There are quite a few Asian food options available at breakfast. There is tofu, fried noodles, curry, stir-fried vegetables, steamed rice, and hard-boiled eggs. There is also porridge, where you can add salted eggs and other condiments, mix it all up, and enjoy a hearty bowl of goodness.
Overall, the breakfast was enjoyable. For the price we paid for our hotel stay, the fact that it included a proper buffet breakfast is fantastic. The breakfast was decent, and it was definitely very value for money.
Food:
Beside the Sunset Bar on the rooftop, Maichoise Cafe, the hotel’s lobby cafe, also serves food and drinks. It is a cafe that serves a wide variety of beverages. We visited the cafe a few times to try out the different drinks. The first time we headed there, we tried two signature drinks, the December Salt Coffee - Croissant and Coconut Coffee. We loved both drinks. Both were proper desserts, and we loved the sweet taste of the drinks. The caffeine also packs a punch, so it is not entirely sinful. This piqued our interest and we wanted to try the rest of the signature drinks, the Egg Coffee and Chocolate Yoghurt.
The next time we were there because the weather was not cooperating, we decided to chill at the lobby cafe. We had the coconut coffee and egg coffee this time and added a slice of cake. The cake was all right, but it was clear the star of the cafe lies in the drinks. As expected, the coconut coffee tasted delicious, while the egg coffee was amazing. Since the weather was persistent in pouring out its content, we stuck around and ordered another round of drinks. We ordered the Chocolate yoghurt and fruit yoghurt. Both were on point.
While staying at the December Hotel, we noted that the cafe served proper meals, including pasta and kimchi rice. However, as we were busy exploring the numerous local food options outside the hotel, we did not get to try the food. However, this might work for families who need an urgent meal!
We rarely hang out at hotel lobby cafes, but Maichoise Cafe is one of those cafes where we enjoyed relaxing and drinking its signature drinks. We know we will be here again the next time we are in Nha Trang!
Room:
We booked the Sea View Double Room, an entry-level room measuring 28 square metres. The difference between the rooms is the views they offer: guests can choose between a city, mountain, or sea view. The executive suites are much more spacious, measuring 56 square metres. If you need more space or feel like splurging, those suites are definitely one way to enjoy your vacation!
The Sea View Double Rooms are on higher floors, so guests can enjoy a fantastic sea view. When entering the room, the closet greets you on one side and the bathroom on the other. Walk in, and you will see the bedroom.
The closet contains all the essentials, including bathroom slippers, bathrobes, a hairdryer, and a room safe. The bathroom has a standing shower with glass that allows you to see through to the bed. It is for romantic couples, although you can restrict viewing access by rolling the blinds down.
Caffeine options include G7 3-in-1 coffee sachets and Cozy teabags. G7 is a famous Vietnamese coffee brand that millions of locals enjoy, and I often drink it at home. Cozy is also a well-known local brand. Your caffeine needs are sorted out at December Hotel.
The bathroom has one sink, a standing shower and a toilet on either side. The standing shower is spacious, and the water pressure is strong. I loved the rainforest shower and enjoyed showering here. The hotel provides toiletries. As the shower gel and shampoo come in hotel-branded containers, we do not know their origins. However, they smelled great, and our hair felt smooth and silky after a shower and hair wash!
The king-sized bed is comfortable, although it is a little on the hard side. Having said that, we had no issues with the bed. We slept comfortably like babies every night. The wall-mounted television serves as an entertainment option, and I enjoy watching movies every night. If you need to, there is a sofa and desk on the side of the room, helpfully facing the television, so you can squeeze in some work.
The balcony is undoubtedly the star of the room, where you can admire Nha Trang city every day. We enjoyed catching the sea breeze every time we were on the balcony. It can also be quite amazing to see the stormy weather, where the waves turn slightly rougher.
The room felt very spacious, with plenty of room to move around. We also love the vinyl flooring, which gives it a very homely feeling. You would not feel out of place, and we could imagine ourselves at home in our apartment's master bedroom. Kudos to the designers of the December Hotel!

As its name suggests, the room has a sea view. We tried to take plenty of photos from the balcony. Hopefully, the pictures will help travellers make an informed decision about whether to book a sea-view room. Enjoy!
Same view, different timing
Overall, the Sea View Double Room fulfilled our accommodation needs in Nha Trang. The pricing was really affordable, and the excellent facilities, service, and dining options made the stay very value for money. It is also located in the middle of the city, a great place to start exploring the city. We highly recommend this hotel for travellers to Nha Trang, and we know we will be back at this hotel the next time we return!
